Interruptions from 'real life'
There are two approaches to travel. The first is to treat the trip as a mere prolonged interruption from ‘real life’. The career you’re meant to be building. Whatever it is that you’re meant to be doing with your life. Your real life, at home, the one you left behind.
Indeed, many people take this approach not just to travel, but to life. The job you have now is a stepping stone to the next, better one. In the future, you’ll be doing what you’re meant to. Probably when you have more financial capacity. Or more leisure time. Or both. Then you can do what you've been put on this earth to do.
The other approach is to recognise that the meaning is already there, as woo woo as it may sound. The meaning is there in your capacity to feel, and experience, and create. Everything you do or try simply reveals that essence a little more. The interruptions are part of the action, rather than simply a break from reality.
With the second approach, you may find that interruptions are a little more bearable, both the pleasant kind, like travel, or the unpleasant kind. Enjoyable, even.
